  • How to Address a Controlling Boss Manager through Lead Management in SUD and other Mental Health Organizations
    9:00 am-3:00 pm
    March 27, 2020

6060 Sunrise Vista Dr. #1110-E, Citrus Heights, CA 95610

6060 Sunrise Vista Dr. #1110-E, Citrus Heights, CA 95610

Due to COVID-19, This training has been cancelled and we will rescheduling in the upcoming months.

The concepts of Lead Management were first developed by W. Edwards Deming and later explained and refined by Dr. William Glasser.  Key concepts of Lead Management include creating the Conditions for Quality and learning to use the skills of Reality Therapy to solve problems.

Lead Management is the application of Choice Theory to any situation where one’s responsibility is to manage others. This would include managing workers, students, our own children, members of social/civic groups, etc. Lead management, which relies on intrinsic motivation, sharply contrasts with traditional boss management, which relies on extrinsic motivation through the application of coercive techniques such as incentive plans and various forms of punishment.

Minimize Fear and Coercion – Instead of relying on traditional methods of “motivating” those whose work or learning the she or he is responsible for, the lead manager creates the conditions for the work or learning to appeal to intrinsic motivation as illustrated in Douglas Walker’s Motivational Triangle.  We will also examine how to Focus on Quality and emphasize Self Evaluation and so much more.
